Prince Harry Goes Into Ulta-Protective Mode Over Meghan Markle
It's no secret that Prince Harry isn't a huge fan of the press, but these days, it seems his disdain for it is stronger than ever. In the new documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, which debuted in the UK on Sunday, the Duke of Sussex opened up about how the negative press has affected his family -- particularly Meghan Markle -- and how he's not going to stand for it.
Recently, it was announced that Prince Harry is taking legal action against media outlets.
"Unfortunately, my wife has become one of the latest victims of a British tabloid press that wages campaigns against individuals with no thought to the consequences -- a ruthless campaign that has escalated over the past year, throughout her pregnancy and while raising our newborn son,” Harry said at the start of their most recent tour to Africa.
And he's not done.
During the documentary, it was revealed that Harry will not be "bullied" into staying silent when it comes to his wife and the British press.
"Look, part of this job and part of any job, like everybody, means putting on a brave face and turning a cheek to a lot of the stuff," he told ITV’s Tom Bradby in the documentary. "But again, for me and for my wife, of course, there's a lot of stuff that hurts -- especially when the majority of it is untrue."
He added: "But all we need to do is focus on being real, focus on being the people we are and standing up for what we believe in. I will not be bullied into playing a game that killed my mum."
Additionally, a royal source revealed that Prince Harry wants to "sort out" all this business between Meghan and the media -- because, evidently, she's not happy.
"He sees the pain of his wife and the attacks she faces, and he wants to try to sort it out," a source close to the royal told People.
It's understandable that Harry is so protective of his wife since, basically, the fanatical press killed his mother.
In the documentary, Harry opened up about how it's a situation from which he'll never heal. “I think being part of this family -- in this role, in this job -- every single time I see a camera, every single time I hear a click, every single time I see a flash, it takes me straight back,” said Harry, saying that it's a "wound that festers."
It's obvious that the media attention Meghan has been on the receiving end of is affecting both the duke and duchess.
Hopefully, Harry's words -- and the lawsuit -- will make things better.
Because, seriously, enough is enough.
