Celebrity wedding cakes can be pricey, but Chrissy and John managed to keep their 2013 wedding on the budget-friendly side. Their cake reportedly only cost $1,400. That might have been because it was a carrot cake, which not everyone is a huge fan of, but Chrissy is trying to change minds. She recently posted a photo of her cake on Twitter and hashtagged it "#justiceforcarrotcake."

After consciously uncoupling with Chris Martin, Gwyneth tied the knot with Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk in 2018. The duo served 90 small cakes at their wedding, with half being Gwyneth's choice of carrot cake, and the other half being Brad's choice of chocolate and vanilla. Producing that many cakes reportedly cost them between $1,000 and $2,000 -- although serving half as the less popular carrot cake probably helped on the final price.

Keeping it in the family! Actor Idris Elba called on his cousin-in-law, Sylvia Elba, to help out with his wedding cake in 2019, since she's a professional pastry chef. He didn't really seem to get that much of a friends and family discount, though, because Us Weekly reports that the actor still shelled out $2,400 for the five-tier cake festooned with flowers.

Even in 1967, celebrities were spending huge amounts on their wedding cakes. Singer Elvis Presley, and wife Priscilla Presley's cake cost about $3,200, according to People magazine. With inflation, that's about $22,000 in today's dollars. That puts them right up there with some of the fanciest and wealthiest celebrities on this list.

As far as royal wedding cakes go, Meghan and Harry's was pretty economical. Theirs reportedly cost around $4,200. With 600 guests, that's only about $7 per guest. (Not bad.) They also (surprise, surprise) broke protocol with their cake flavor. Traditionally, royal brides serve fruitcake at their weddings, but Meghan and Harry's cake was lemon elderflower.

Paul McCartney's marriage to Heather Mills ended in disaster and a hefty divorce payout, but the former Beatle is used to paying high prices for things. His chocolate wedding cake cost $4,500, which was just a small part of the total $3 million that the wedding cost. Then, she got $50 million in the divorce settlement. 

This was an expensive relationship for Sir Paul.

When Kim Kardashian tied the knot with Kanye West in 2014, her guests got to eat some of her towering $6,800 vanilla and berry cake. The Daily Mail reported that the pastry stood at 7 feet tall, so much taller than Kim's basketball player ex-husband, Kris Humphries, who's only 6 feet, 9 inches. 

Was that intentional? Probably not, but we love the comparison anyway.

For years, it seemed like George Clooney was content to never get married, but he finally settled down in 2014 with lawyer Amal Alamuddin. The duo spared no expense with their nuptials. Their wedding cake alone cost $7,000, according to Us Weekly. It was a towering, art deco-inspired pastry with bold black lines covering the white tiers.

Both Catherine Zeta-Jones and her husband, Michael Douglas, are respected and popular actors, and their combined salaries allowed them to throw quite the wedding celebration in 2000. Notably, the duo had a five-tier wedding cake that cost around $8,500.

Princess Eugenie had an October wedding, so her cake matched the time of year. The five-tier cake was decorated with fall leaves and cost a reported $10,000 to create, according to E! News. It was red velvet and chocolate flavored, and had to serve 800 guests -- which makes sense given the hefty price tag. It was about $12.50 per guest to make this cake.

The former president's daughter got married in 2010 to investor Marc Mezvinsky. For their wedding in Rhinebeck, New York, Chelsea ordered a gluten-free cake for their guests, which cost $11,000. Chelsea is reportedly allergic to gluten. Gluten-free things are everywhere now, but in 2010, it wasn't such a popular movement yet.

In 1956, actress Grace Kelly wed the Prince of Monaco, Prince Rainier III. Their ceremony featured a tall, intricate cake that cost about $12,700, according to Marie Claire. Imagine shelling out that kind of money 60 years ago. That would make the cake worth over $100,000 in today's money, thanks to inflation.

When comedian Eddie Murphy married model Nicole Mitchell in 1993, they had a $15,000 cake at their ceremony. Today, that same cake would cost over $26,000 due to inflation. Eddie and Nicole stayed married until 2006, so perhaps it wasn't a solid investment. Perhaps that's why Eddie only got married the one time.

Before there was Kim and Kanye, there was Kim and Kris. The reality star married the basketball player in 2011, and they stayed together for a whopping 72 days before calling it quits. Their wedding cake was unusual because it had black and white tiers and cost $20,000. That's just a fraction of the overall $10 million wedding price tag.

Nick Jonas' wedding to Priyanka Chopra was all kinds of opulent, thanks in part to the massive white and gold cake that they served to guests. It cost nearly $20,000, according to Marie Claire. Overall, their ceremony cost around $500,000 -- so, while the overall price tag was lower than some celeb festivities, the cake took a bigger slice of the budget.

Liza Minnelli has had many marriages in her lifetime, but her wedding to David Gest was the most expensive, thanks in large part to the cake. For the 2002 ceremony, Liza commissioned a giant black and white 12-tier cake covered in red roses. It's said to have cost $40,000. Hope it was worth it, considering she got divorced five years later.

Sofia and Joe's cake was baked by noted celebrity pastry chef Sylvia Weinstock. According to CBS News, her cakes cost about $15 per person, but go up to $50,000 if the bride wants a lot of flowers, a very tall cake, or an unusually shaped cake. Given the height and flower count on Sofia's cake, we're guessing that it hits close to that $50,000 mark.

Is anyone surprised that Donald Trump's wedding cake cost a pretty penny? The president's 2005 ceremony with Melania Trump included a towering eight-tier cake covered in white roses that cost $50,000. Years later, an auction house sold a leftover piece of the cake for over $2,000. Given his affinity for gold, we're surprised the whole thing wasn't covered with real gold flakes.

According to Insider, rapper Gucci Mane's cake cost $75,000, and it took three days to bake. It was so expensive in part because it was decked out with 2,500 Swarovski crystals. Each tier was also a different flavor, including "red velvet, amaretto, carrot, banana nut, and Jamaican rum." The thing ended up being so big that Gucci Mane had to cut it with a sword -- and it's still not even the most expensive cake on this list.

The most expensive cake on this list belongs to one of the most prominent royal couples. Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton spared no expense on any front. Around $32 million went just to security, and Kate's dress was $434,000 -- so it's no surprise that their cake was just as expensive. They actually had two cakes: one for their afternoon reception, and another for their evening reception. 

Each one cost $80,000.
