15 Celebrities Who've Been Married More Than Three Times
If you follow what goes on in Hollywood at all, you know that celebrity relationships are just … different. Though we know that, in the real world, marriages don't work out all the time, we don't actually know that many people in real life who have been married more than maybe one or two times.
But in the world of our favorite actors and singers, it's actually pretty common. Divorces happen all the time, and then they find new love again — rinse and repeat.
All these weddings (and divorces) must have been pretty expensive, if you think about it. But fortunately, a lot of the celebrities who have been married the most are legendary stars, so they can afford it — and if it makes them happy, isn't that all that matters?
Read on for celebs who have been married more than three times. They might have walked down the aisle a lot more than others, but we have to hand it to them for following their hearts, both in and out of their many marriages.
Nicolas Cage
National Treasure star Nicolas Cage is known for his many marriages. His current wife, Riko Shibata, is his fifth. His first marriage was to Patricia Arquette from 1995 to 2001, followed by Lisa Marie Presley from 2002 to 2004. Then he was married to Alice Kim from 2004 to 2016, and his fourth marriage to makeup artist Erika Koike famously lasted just four days after they tied the knot in Las Vegas.
Billy Bob Thornton
Though Billy Bob Thornton's three-year marriage to Angelina Jolie probably made the most headlines, it wasn't his only marriage (not by a longshot). His first wife was Melissa Lee Gatlin, and they were married from 1978 to 1980. In 1986, he began another two-year marriage, this time to Toni Lawrence. He was married to both Cynda Williams and Pietra Dawn Cherniak before his marriage to Angelina, and after that ended, Billy Bob tied the knot with Connie Angland in 2014 and they've been together ever since.
David Foster
David Foster certainly raised a few eyebrows when he married Katharine McPhee in 2019 — after all, they have a 35-year age gap. David and Katharine are still going strong, but before Katharine, David was married four other times: to B.J. Cook, Rebecca Dyer, Linda Thompson, and Yolanda Hadid, in that order.
Liza Minnelli
Over the years, the legendary Liza Minnelli has been married a total of four times — first to Peter Allen from 1967 to 1974, followed by Jack Haley Jr. from 1974 to 1979. Then she was married to Mark Gero from 1979 to 1992, and finally, to David Gest from 2002 to 2007.
Geena Davis
Behind the scenes of her long career in Hollywood, Geena Davis has been married four times. Her first three husbands were Richard Emmolo, Jeff Goldblum, and Renny Harlin, and in December 2021 her divorce from Reza Jarrahy became final after more than 16 years together.
Pamela Anderson
We could never pretend that Pamela Anderson's ill-fated marriage to Tommy Lee isn't the one that most people talk about, but she had other husbands, too. Her total is technically five marriages, after making it official with Kid Rock, marrying Rick Salomon twice, and now being married to Dan Hayhurst.
Elizabeth Taylor
If anyone is famous for their many marriages, it's gotta be Elizabeth Taylor. The late Hollywood legend was married eight times, and her husbands famously included Conrad Hilton Jr., Michael Wilding, Mike Todd, Eddie Fischer, Richard Burton (twice!), John W. Warner, and Larry Fortensky.
Frank Sinatra
Like many other legends in Hollywood at his time, Frank Sinatra certainly had a few marriages under his belt. His wives included Nancy Barbato Sinatra (1939-1951), Ava Gardner (1951-1956), Mia Farrow (1966-1968) and finally, Barbara Marx Sinatra, who he married in 1976 and stayed with until his death in 1998.
Larry King
Famed TV host Larry King had eight marriages under his belt before his death in January 2021 at 87 years old. His first marriage to Freda Miller lasted just one year in 1952, followed by another marriage lasting less than a year, this time to Annette Kaye. In 1961, he married former Playboy model Alene Akins, divorced her two years later, and married Mickey Sutphin. When they divorced in 1967, he and Alene were remarried until 1972. He was then married to Sharon Lepore and Julie Alexander before tying the knot with Shawn King in 1997, who he remained with until his death.
Mickey Rooney
The late Mickey Rooney was also married eight times. His wives included Ava Gardner, B.J. Baker, Martha Vickers, Elaine Devry, Carolyn Mitchell, Marge Lane, Carolyn Hockett, and Jan Chamberlin, who Mickey married in 1978 and stayed with until his death in 2014.
Rue McClanahan
Late Golden Girls star Rue McClanahan had six husbands — and something tells us that Blanche probably would have been proud. She was first married to Tom Bish for one year in 1958, Norman Hartweg from 1959 to 1961, Peter DeMaio from 1964 to 1971, Gus Fisher from 1976 to 1979, Tom Keel from 1984 to 1985, and finally Morrow Wilson from 1997 to 2010, the year Rue died.
George Foreman
Former boxer George Foreman famously has 12 kids (five of whom are also named George) and five wives. He's been married to Adrienne Calhoun, Cynthia Lewis, Sharon Goodson, Andrea Skeete, and Mary Joan Martelly, who he married in 1985 and is still with today.
Melanie Griffith
Actress Melanie Griffith has been married four times, though two of those marriages were to the same man. She was married to Don Johnson in 1976, though the marriage ended that same year. Then she married Steven Bauer, divorcing him eight years later, only to end up married to Don Johnson again — this time from 1989 to 1996. She was also married to Antonio Banderas from 1996 to 2015.
Barbara Walters
Famous broadcast journalist Barbara Walters has been married four times, though like Melanie Griffith (and others on this list), two of her marriages were to the same person. She was first married to Robert Henry Katz from 1955 to 1957, then to Lee Guber from 1963 to 1976. She'd later go on to marry TV producer Merv Adelson twice: once in 1981 and once in 1986, though they'd forever go their separate ways in 1992.
