Christine Quinn Speaks Out About Bribe Allegation & Addresses Future of 'Selling Sunset'

Lauren Wellbank

The sun has set on Christine Quinn's career with The Oppenheim Group. Although Christine says this decision is old news and has nothing to do with the recent scandal on the show, it doesn't seem like everyone else is on the same page about the reason behind her shocking exit from the Selling Sunset real estate firm.

The celeb agent is striking out on her own.

Christine and her husband, Christian Dumontet, are opening a crypto-based real estate company, which will allow hopeful homeowners to purchase property using the controversial coinage.

"I terminated my contract when the brokerage launched," Christine explained to People. "I had to make a business decision that was for me, so I had to terminate the contract so I could move it over to my brokerage."

This means Christine will no longer be working with her Oppenheim Group colleagues, who also star alongside one another on Selling Sunset.

But the timing seems a little suspect to fans who saw the wild season five accusations made against Christine.

One of Christine's on-screen pals accused her of bribing a client with $5,000 in an effort to steal her away. Things reached a boiling point in the finale when boss Jason Oppenheim and another real estate agent were waiting at the office to sit down and talk to Christine about the accusations … but she never showed up.

Jason briefly addressed the bribery allegation during the show's reunion special.

"Right now, there's not a place for [Christine] at the Oppenheim Group," he declared.

Christine, who did not show up to film the reunion, responded and called out Jason for skewing the truth of the matter.

"There's not a place for me because I terminated my contract," she said. "He got a letter from my lawyers before the reunion. That's why there's not a place, because my license is hung somewhere else."

In fact, Christine said Jason has known about her plans to leave the company for a year.

The mother of one is adamant that her former boss knew about her intention to leave The Oppenheim Group.

"He and I had had conversations a year prior," she said. "I told him I was doing my own thing. I don't think anyone actually thought … I think they thought I was bluffing; I don't think they actually thought I was working on a company, I don't know."

Christine's future on the popular show now remains uncertain.

According to Christine, the last season was supposed to feature her new venture, not a bribery allegation. Still, she's not ruling out a return to the small screen if a sixth season does get the greenlight — as long as it follows her new storyline, that is.

"I would absolutely still love to be a part of the show," she said. "But I'm not going to be a 'friend of.' I need to be shown doing my real estate."

Fans will have to tune in to find out what happens next!
