Ex-Meta Engineer Kills His Wife & 4-Year-Old Twins, Then Himself, Inside Their $2.1M Home
This post contains information about suicide, which may be triggering to some.
Neighbors thought this former Meta employee, his data scientist wife, and their 4-year-old twin boys seemed like the perfect family. They had great jobs, beautiful children, and had moved into their $2.1 million San Mateo home in 2020.
From the outside looking in, things seemed perfect. The image could not have been further from the truth. On Monday, the entire family was found dead in their home in what authorities have deemed a murder-suicide committed by Anand Sujith Henry.

A neighbor believes the boys' grandmother called for a welfare check.
Police reported to the home of Anand Sujith Henry and his wife Alice Benzinger, at 9 a.m. on February 12, KTVU reported. They were there to conduct a welfare check after someone reported that they hadn’t heard from the family in a while. Police would not disclose who placed the call, but a neighbor said the grandmother of the children requested the check when she could no longer reach the family.
There were no signs of forced entry at the home. But once inside, police found a horrific scene. Sujith Henry allegedly shot Benzinger in the head in the bathtub before turning the gun, which had been legally purchased months ago, on himself.

The boys were not shot.
The couple’s twin boys were also found dead in one of the bedrooms but were not shot. Sources claim that police believe the boys were either smothered, strangled, or given a lethal overdose of something because there were no signs of trauma to their body, NBC Bay Area reported.
Officers informed neighbors that this appeared to be an isolated incident and there was no threat to the public. Still, neighbors of the San Mateo community were shocked by the incident, given how little crime happens within the area.
Police are still searching for a motive.
The motive for the deaths remains unclear. Sujith Henry, 37, filed for divorce from Benziger in 2016, but it never progressed. The couple moved into their home four years later. Neighbors said the two seemed friendly.
“Before the babies were born, we would see the husband and the wife just taking a walk while she was pregnant,” Phyllis Halili told NBC Bay Area, adding that after the kids were born, the couple would be seen “just taking them out for a walk.”
Police had been involved with the couple in the past.
But there was obviously another side of the story. The police noted that they had been called to the house a few times in the past. They would not reveal the nature of these calls. As their investigation continues, they plan to speak with witnesses and family members to nail down a possible motive.
