After Dad Shows Off the 'Makeover' His Daughter Gave Him, Other Girl Dads Proudly Join In
Brad Cubbie gave his two daughters a Christmas gift that they couldn't get enough of: a kid-friendly makeup kit, made for aspiring beauticians. As the Dayton, Ohio, dad later told Good Morning America, he always tells his girls that they don't need makeup to be beautiful because they're beautiful just the way they are. But after their mom assured him it was "just for fun," he went ahead and bought it. Cubbie soon found himself getting a full-blown makeover from his two daughters and sharing the results on Twitter. Little did he know that his sweet post would inspire other dads to share their own #GirlDad moments.
Cubbie first shared the story on Christmas Day.
"Welp ... my daughters got make up for Christmas," tweeted Cubbie, referring to his 10-year-old daughter, Khloe, and 6-year-old daughter Braleigh.
In his post, he included a selfie to show off the epic makeover he'd just received.
Welp...my daughters got make up for Christmas 🙃 pic.twitter.com/ZqzJ6yVGer

But if you thought the dad wasn't a fan of his "new look," think again.
"Meet yo favorite artist future [makeup artist]‼️" he tweeted just one day later, in a video with his younger daughter.
Meet yo favorite artist future MUA🎨‼️ https://t.co/czbhR9qRpp pic.twitter.com/Bvl1TVJnKc
— Brad Cubbie (@Bcube40) December 26, 2020
As the little girl sits in her dad's lap, the pair laugh and giggle over Cubbie's "unique" new look, which includes cheeks filled with blush, pink lipstick, and bright blue eyeshadow.
Fellow #GirlDads immediately jumped on board, sharing similar experiences of their own.

"The official Girl Dad rite of passage," wrote Twitter user @KoachAlexander, along with a photo he snapped with his own daughter. In it, the dad proudly shows off a face full of makeup applied by his little girl, who sports her own matching look.
Other #GirlDads gave Cubbie a hearty welcome to "the club."
It's a club where making your little girl happy — even if it means spending 30 minutes in a chair as she turns your face into her own personal canvas — is everything.
Brad, welcome to the club sir pic.twitter.com/kSZKF0JpBa
— Declan Eccles (@eccipoo) December 30, 2020
Declan Eccles certainly knows this. He shared several of his own images in response to Cubbie's original tweet, and all of them show him looking, well, kind of hilarious after a makeover by his daughter.
Some dads even got their hair done.
This dad willingly put on a wig with pink highlights!
Ahhhh welcome to the club. pic.twitter.com/G8fS1TRmSa

As most of these dads have learned at some point or another, little girls mean business when it comes to giving makeovers.
"I thought it was going to be a little blush," Cubbie later told Good Morning America, "but she was serious."
(Boy, was she.)
Another dad showed off his new "mermaid" beard.
And it was pretty awesome.
Lol no make up but got my beard done by my princess pic.twitter.com/JGAIWuROY1
— Calvin (@CalvinAnthonyjr) December 26, 2020
Honestly, we didn't even know "beard makeovers" were a thing. Apparently, they are.
That dad was far from alone, however.
Yet another dad showed off his "mermaid"-colored beard — and the results were pretty cool.
I learned this lesson on her 6th birthday 😂 pic.twitter.com/gh876XlkDh
— Ryan (@EaglesFanOrHome) January 4, 2021
(Can you believe the colorist behind this was only 6 years old?)
Others shared different ways that they'd been "pampered."
That includes this proud papa, who sat for one very sparkly (and quite memorable) manicure.
Welcome to the brotherhood... got my rite of passage ceremony last Christmas! pic.twitter.com/JFHWE2aEgM
— his Lordship Wilbur III (@officialwilburj) December 31, 2020
"Welcome to the brotherhood," he told Cubbie. "[I] got my rite of passage ceremony last Christmas!"
One dad recently got to experience his very first sheet mask.
And, just like the rest of us, he looks equal parts relaxed and terrified in it.
My daughter is a bit older - blond dye job for me (with complementary face mask) pic.twitter.com/4JGJGX5hGY
— Matt Rodgers (@mattrodgers1) December 30, 2020
As he notes in his tweet, though, this was actually just a complimentary sheet mask — the real beauty treatment was the blond dye job his daughter gave him!
Another was bestowed with a custom flower crown his daughter made.
Honestly, it's pretty impressive! (Even if he does look like "the Ghost of Christmas Present," as he joked in his tweet.)
My daughter made me a custom Christmas crown & had me looking like the Ghost of Christmas Present 😁😁😁 pic.twitter.com/cCE4hax487

Some fathers even documented the whole process.
Like this dad, who let the camera roll as his young daughter expertly applied eye shadow to his face.
Ain’t no way around it when you’re a girl dad bruh 😩😂😂✊🏽 pic.twitter.com/Og1WN4Tqed
— unkle ben (@benjitgreene) December 27, 2020
"Ain't no way around it when you're a girl dad bruh," Twitter user @benjitgreene told Cubbie.
In some cases, it wasn't just little girls who used their father to practice their skills.
Several dads also shared that they've sat for makeup trials from their grown-up daughters, who are training to become professional makeup artists. (How adorable is that?)
My 3rd daughter at 16, was an inspiring make up artist, in her first photo shoot. at the last minute her model bailed on her... daddy to the rescue! Now she’s 18, in college doing her thing. pic.twitter.com/9AR3RAhasa
— Dell (@IamakingII) December 26, 2020
The tweets really showed the lengths that some dads will go for their little girls.
One was this dad, who gave in to his daughter's demands to wear a literal princess tiara on Christmas Day.
My daughter's made me wear this on Christmas day 💝💝 pic.twitter.com/wgBG0ShOGI
— Kabììro. (@DNjugush) December 27, 2020
Ah-mazing.
Apparently, he was far from alone in getting the royal treatment.
At least one dad, whose kids have since outgrown the pretend-play phase, recalled how much he misses those days. When his daughters were little, it wasn't unusual for him to don a princess tiara, some clip-on earrings, and fingers full of jewels while he held a magical wand.
I do miss my kids being little & wondrous and gleeful. Here’s a dad ->#DaddyDaughterfun pic.twitter.com/0DuhU5TClH
— james ohman (@popohman) December 26, 2020
All of these tweets capture much more than just sweet moments of father-daughter bonding.
Even though that's certainly a huge part of it, they also send another message to the masses that feels quite timely — one that even in 2021, we still need to be reminded of.
Got my own makeover earlier this year. These kids know how to pamper their dads! pic.twitter.com/JfSGZ6vT2I
— Hamilcar Barcalounger (@yesmandroc) December 26, 2020
In their own small way, these images help tear down the long-held beliefs tied to toxic masculinity.
As the saying goes, "Real men wear pink" — and likewise, Real dads wear makeup.
— Hamilcar Barcalounger (@yesmandroc) December 26, 2020
By proudly donning blush and eye shadow for the world to see, these dads are bravely challenging the narrow definitions of "manhood" we've held on to for so long, especially in US culture.
In reality, great dads don't just toss around footballs and tell their kids how to be "tough."
They also put their kids to bed by reading fairy tales, play "tea time" and dress-up and Barbies, and teach their kids that it's OK to cry and have emotions. Ideally, they do this equally for both their daughters and their sons.
My girls got makeup too😂 their daddy was such a trooper and they made lifelong memories ❤️ pic.twitter.com/BdkU6eNXxt

"Peak masculinity right here," tweeted one dad in reply to Cubbie's original post. "An authority unto himself, unbothered by how others might judge his appearance. Embracing and loving his daughters, and being courageously open to things others might cringe at."
Modern-day dads sure do look a lot different than the ones we grew up with.
Isn't that kind of awesome?
I feel your pain mine got face masks pic.twitter.com/zOJ4CUQREA
— Seddo (@Phill_Seddon) December 26, 2020
More than a few people told Cubbie this was the mark of an exceptional dad.
"Spending time with your daughters ... Helping them learn about makeup ... Letting your daughters get to know you ... Becoming closer with and knowing your daughters more," one person tweeted. "That makes you a great father and greater man."
Even some moms joined in on the fun.
Not to show off their own kid-friendly makeovers, but to put their husbands on blast.
All the best daddies have a picture like this one. 💕 @rabbijonsiger #girldad pic.twitter.com/G20SjoEoq3
— Jennifer Siger (@jensiger) December 29, 2020
(Clearly, this earned them major hubby points in the process.)
Some grown-up daughters also shared how moments like these stuck with them for life.
"They'll treasure that forever," shared one woman, whose father died of cancer many years ago. "I still remember when my dad let me put his hair in what could best be described as 'pug tails.'"
They'll treasure that forever. I still remember when my dad let me put his hair in what could best be described as "pug tails". Unfortunately, #PancreaticCancer took him way, way too young. But these memories, I'll always have them. #Dad pic.twitter.com/eLQJqg9DTs
— Kara Karlson (@KaraKarlson) December 26, 2020
Even if many of these dads went along with the makeovers begrudgingly, they sure wound up having a blast.
That much is clear from the hilarious photos they went on to share.
I know your pain lol kids 😜 pic.twitter.com/8Bgq0oYuHF
— JD the Watcher Anon 17 (@Jamesdo01621934) December 26, 2020
And make no mistake, they were hilarious.
"It happens to best my brother," wrote one dad who lay down patiently as his daughter drew all over his face and head with black eyeliner.
It happens to best my brother. #girldad ✊🏾 pic.twitter.com/dKM3jo2FnW
— Jeremy Taylor (@jtsports12) December 26, 2020
(We don't even want to guess how much makeup remover that required.)
