Groom's Emotional Vows to 7-Year-Old Stepson Leave Wedding Guests in Tears
The exchanging of wedding vows is a major part of any ceremony. Whether a couple writes their own vows or sticks to traditional promises, it can be an incredibly emotional display of affection for both the bride and groom as well as their guests.
One guest, however, took vow writing to a whole new level when he delivered a touching message to his bride’s 7-year-old son. Folks on social media can’t get over the touching pledges he made to his soon-to-be stepson.

The heartwarming moment happened in October 2023.
Eldridge Buchanan married Asia Green Buchanan in October 2023. But ahead of saying, "I do," the groom pulled his soon-to-be stepson, Kayden, 7, aside and made him some bold promises. The couple's videographer, A Love Experience, captured the touching moment, later sharing a clip of the emotional interaction via Instagram.
The groom promised to help Kayden 'grow up to be a young Black king.'
"I want you to know, Kayden, that we're gonna have fun. We're definitely going to do homework," Eldridge tells the young boy in the video. "But I want you to know that with everything in my body, Kayden, I'm going to pour into you to make sure that you grow up to be a young Black king that you are."
Members of the wedding party dabbed their eyes, clearly moved by the promises.
Eldridge got choked up during his speech, too.
During the vows, the groom's voice nearly broke as he listed off all of the lessons he hopes to instill in Kayden.
"I'm gonna teach you how to be a leader. I'm gonna teach you how to be a man of integrity, a man of respect, a man that values himself," Eldridge promises. "And most importantly, Imma show you every single day what it looks like for a man to love a woman and to love his family and to lead his family so that when you grow up, you will know exactly what that looks like and you'll know exactly what that feels like."

Finally, the groom expressed his love for his bride's son.
Lastly — and perhaps most importantly — the groom pledged to adore Kayden.
"So I vow to you from this day forward that I'm gonna love you, I'm gonna teach you, I'm gonna guide you, and I'm gonna pour into you because you are a king," he tells the 7-year-old. "And you're my king. I love you, man."
Instagram users practically swooned over the groom's touching speech.
In the comments, Instagram users reacted to Eldridge's moving act of love and devotion.
One person wrote, "He is going to watch this video when he's older and finally understand everything he said to him...as a single/solo Mum to a 12 year old son...this touched me deeply...❤"
Another Instagram user declared, "OMG this is so beautiful whomever the woman is that found this man is blessed to have connected with this King!"
Meanwhile, yet another viewer commented, "He meant that with his soul. Real Men know 🫡."
Eldridge recently explained why he made vows to his stepson.
The Instagram video has attracted more than 48,000 likes thus far. Eldridge recently reflected on the vows he made to Kayden during an interview with Good Morning America.
"It was just kind of a heartfelt moment, a reiteration of things that we talk about on a daily basis," he explained. "I just really wanted him to know in that special moment, not only was I going to give a vow to his mom, but I was giving a vow to him, as well, as my son," he shared with the morning news show.
