High School Cheerleaders on TikTok Lead Teachers in the Cutest Dance Battle Ever
I’ll never forget my sixth grade dance. It was my first school dance and I was eager to see if it would be like the movies and TV shows I’d watched. It wasn’t. There weren’t any overly romantic moments because the boys stood up against the wall the whole night.
But what I will always remember is our math teacher doing the dance from the Will Smith “Men In Black” music video. There’s something about seeing a teacher, outside of the classroom, being real and relatable that leaves a lasting impression. Case in point, a recent video of teachers participating in a dance-off went viral on TikTok, and we totally understand why.
The school's cheerleaders partnered with the teachers.
Perhaps that’s the reason this TikTok featuring teachers dancing with the school’s cheerleaders is making its rounds on the platform. A North Carolina high school science and PE teacher posted the dance-off, and it's pretty adorable.
It was more than an actual battle because the cheerleaders clearly provided the choreography for the teachers. And then the teachers and their students showed the school what they had learned.
Some teachers stood out more than others.
Some teachers seemed more comfortable with the idea than their colleagues. Although some teachers struggled a bit with the choreography and needed countdowns, there were others who went off script and just decided to do their own thing.
The fourth dancer, a tall, male teacher, was a crowd favorite based on the noise from the audience. Initially, he followed the lead of the cheerleader. But after a while, he broke loose. Thankfully, it worked.
Some teachers had more heart than their colleagues.
The line concluded with a short, bald, male teacher who seemed a bit nervous at first, but he left a definite impression by the end. He finished the routine with a strong dolphin move that has been popular on TikTok for some time. That move and the energy behind the performance made it work.
TikTokers loved how supportive the students were.
The folks on TikTok were equally impressed, and called out their favorite teachers from the group.
“First teacher was totally a cheerleader hahaha,” one user wrote.
Others noted how supportive the students were.
“I love how a couple cheerleaders took the nurturing role and grabbed the teachers’ hands! So sweet,” another user wrote.
She’s right. This is the type of wholesome content we love to see.
