I Gave Birth to My Son Naturally & It Actually 'Felt Like a Vacation'

Colleen Dilthey Thomas

Giving birth is an incredible time for a family. It is even more beautiful when a mom has her partner's undying and loving support. It can make for a much more pleasurable experience when they are in sync. Biffy and Brandon Hell are one such couple. When they began to make their birth plan for their second child, they wanted it to be calm and filled with music.

Biffy, 31, and Brandon, 30, are musicians, and when it came time for their son, Jack, to be born in November, they say sang through the entire experience. Brandon shared videos of the birth on TikTok, and it is one of the most beautifully wholesome things you will ever see.

When the couple had their first child, things didn't go quite as planned.

Biffy wanted to have a home birth with her daughter, Penelope, but when the pregnancy progressed to 42 weeks, she went into the hospital for an induction, the New York Post reported per SWNS. It was not the experience she had dreamed of, and she called her first labor "traumatic."

"When the contractions started, they were so intense — I did eight hours of natural labor and then had an epidural," she said. "I wanted to try natural again."

When it was time for Jack to be born, the couple went to a birthing center.

Biffy and Brandon worked with doula Maddy Barnes, 26, during her labor with Jack. The couple used music to help distract from the pain, and Biffy said singing made the five-hour labor feel "like a vacation." She had very little pain, and the video of the birth shows a very relaxed mother and doting father.

Brandon shared the couple's birth experience, posting several videos on TikTok.

In a series of videos, we see Brandon strumming his guitar while Biffy sings through different stages of labor. The couple begins on the bed, where Brandon helps his wife through contractions, singing with her and rubbing her back.

The next video shows Biffy on the floor with Barnes and belting out an incredible version of "Strong Enough" by Sheryl Crowe. Others then join the couple to finish off a gorgeous rendition of a church hymn.

Biffy told SWNS she sang up until 30 minutes before Jack was born. "She was doing ... well on the singing and the movements," Brandon said. "Singing really helped."

Baby Jack seemed to love his mama's voice.

Biffy gave birth to Jack at 8:20 p.m. November 20, and he weighed 7 lb 7 oz. The couple said the singing helped, and Jack was very "relaxed" after birth.

"The birth was a completely different experience," Biffy recalled. "I felt so lucky to have the experience I was having."

She encouraged other moms to use music during labor and contended that talent has nothing to do with it. "It's irrelevant if you're a good singer or not," she asserted. "You find certain music that calms you or pumps you up."

Biffy amazed TikTokers.

The birth videos have amassed millions of views, and it's not hard to see why. It is among some of the most beautiful music we have ever heard, and to think that a laboring woman in singing is amazing.

TikTokers agree.

"Ok this is one of the most wholesome beautiful moments. Also her voice is magical," one comment reads.

Biffy and Brandon are totally couple goals.
