Jennifer Lopez Says She Offered Khloé Kardashian Role in New Movie but She Turned It Down
Being a celebrity doesn't mean automatically being prepared to put yourself out there. According to Jennifer Lopez, Khloé Kardashian declined a role in her upcoming musical film, This Is Me ... Now. Jennifer didn’t really explain why, but it does seem odd a Kardashian would turn down the opportunity to be on screen. Maybe, unlike sister Kim, Khloé doesn’t have any desire to be an actress. Or maybe she was too busy running her business empire. Either way, we wonder what it would have been like to see Khloé on the big screen.

Jennifer specifically wanted Khloe to be involved.
In an interview with Variety, J.Lo shared more details about her upcoming musical film project, including that she had reached out to Khloé for a role but it was turned down. Jennifer apparently made multiple requests, but Khloé couldn't be convinced.
She thinks it's fear holding Khloé back.
"People are scared to put themselves out there" she said, speculating on why Khloé would decline. "I get it. It took me a long time. I’m scared. But I don’t act like I’m scared — that’s the secret to my whole f---ing career."

Khloé has never had a real acting role before.
Maybe J.Lo is right about Khloé being scared. Although the reality star and mogul has appeared on television for almost 20 years, she has always appeared as herself. In addition to the many reality shows she’s starred in, Khloé appeared as herself on a 2011 episode of Law & Order: Los Angeles, a 2013 episode of the mock reality show Real Husbands of Hollywood, and a 2014 episode of Royal Pains.
But playing someone else? That's a big difference!
J.Lo funded this movie by herself.
Apparently Khloé wasn’t the only person skeptical about participating in Jennifer’s project. In the interview, she admitted that she financed the project with $20 million of her own money. Amazon did buy the completed project for an undisclosed amount of money, so clearly, she was right to follow her vision.
Not everyone could understand her vision for the project.
"I’m in New York. And she’s saying, ‘I think I’m going to finance this myself.’ I was like, ‘Wait, what?’ I don’t even know what it is. What are you doing?’" Jennifer's producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas told Variety.
Soon, we'll find out if everyone was right to trust J.Lo with this project. This is Me ... Now is streaming on Amazon starting February 16.
