Kate Middleton's New Look May Be an Attempt To Appease Prince William's Jealousy
Kate Middleton has been thought of as a royal style icon since before her wedding to Prince William, and more than a decade later, that hasn't changed — but her wardrobe definitely seems to be evolving quickly. Some believe that she's simply preparing to be queen someday, but one royal source says Kate's changing her style for a very different reason: to take attention off of herself now that her husband is becoming jealous he's not the main attraction at their joint appearances.

Lately, Kate's outfits have been a bit more buttoned up.
Although Kate has always been one to dress fairly conservatively (the job demands it, after all), she seems to be taking it to the next level lately. Though she has a closet full of beautiful — and very expensive — dresses, more and more we've been seeing her wear blazers and pants and choosing more muted colors.
Some royal watchers have a theory that this is her attempt at copying Meghan Markle's style, but it appears it might be something more than that ...
Reportedly, William is feeling a bit jealous.
A Spanish gossip site, Marca, is reporting that royal sources have said Kate has drastically toned down her look because William doesn't love that all eyes are on his wife instead of him. Now, she's finding herself wearing "very simple suits and blouses," which is a far cry from the fancier dresses and bright colors she once wore.
This isn't the first time William's jealousy has come up recently.
During an appearance on A Right Royal Podcast, Princess Diana's former bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, said he thought William was jealous of his younger brother, Prince Harry, who was always the more popular sibling.
"Harry was very much the popular boy in the shop. He was a character. He was a joker, and people liked jokers. I think William was a little more reserved as a child, although he had his parts," Ken said.

It seems William is taking after his father in this regard.
King Charles was always believed to have been jealous of Princess Diana while they were married because, like Kate, she had all the attention during their royal engagements.
"[W]with the media attention came a lot of jealousy. A great deal of complicated situations arose because of that," Diana said of Charles during her bombshell Panorama interview in 1995.
Will and Kate both shine in their own ways.
If this is truly how William feels and he knows what's good for him — and the future of the monarchy — he'll embrace Kate's popularity with open arms. After all, the royal family has been shown in a negative light quite a bit lately, and the level at which Kate is beloved by the public can only help them turn that image around.
