Megan Fox Admits She's 'Never Loved' Her Body Due to Her Battle With Body Dysmorphia

Although many people count Megan Fox on their lists of celebrity crushes, the actress says she's never once felt good about the way she looks. The Transformers star has opened up about how she feels about her body, claiming body dysmorphic disorder keeps her feeling insecure about herself.

Megan got seriously vulnerable in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

The 36-year-old didn't mince words when she talked about her enviable figure. "I have body dysmorphia," she confessed in the cover interview for the 2023 swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated. "I don't ever see myself the way other people see me."

It sounds like the condition causes Megan to be unnecessarily hard on herself.

The condition can present in a lot of ways.

According to the Mayo Clinic, body dysmorphic disorder is a mental health condition that causes people to focus on perceived physical shortcomings.

"When you have body dysmorphic disorder, you intensely focus on your appearance and body image, repeatedly checking the mirror, grooming or seeking reassurance, sometimes for many hours each day," the website explains.

For Megan it means struggling to love herself.

"There is never a point in my life where I loved my body, ever ever," the mother of three said before adding how she has found herself on a "never-ending" journey to find peace with herself and to break free of the "awareness" and "obsession" she's had with her body since she was a young girl.

Even though her fixation started while she was younger, Megan doesn't think her childhood was to blame.

The brunette bombshell doesn't know why she developed the condition, but she doesn't think it has anything to do with how she was raised. "It definitely wasn't environmental because I grew up in a very religious environment where bodies weren't even acknowledged," Megan shared.

The Mayo Clinic states that the condition can be brought on by anything from a family history of the disorder to abnormal levels of serotonin in the brain.

This is a good reminder as to why we should never comment on other people's bodies.

Megan has spoken about her feelings about her body before, including in a 2021 interview with British GQ Style when she previously mentioned her body dysmorphia. "We may look at somebody and think, 'That person's so beautiful. Their life must be so easy.' They most likely don't feel that way about themselves," she said at the time.

It has to be so hard to go through life unable to see how wonderful you are, inside and out, and we hope Megan is getting some help when it comes to facing her condition.
