Mom Goes Viral With Hilarious TikTok of Son's Grocery Store Birthday Cake Fail
We don't know about you, but we love a themed party. It's especially fun for kids when they can pick something they are totally obsessed with and we moms can go all out. And boy, do we go crazy from time to time. They're only young once, right? Do a little social media scroll, and you will see tons of parents doing the same thing, and they want every darn detail to be perfect.
TikTok mom Sonja, who goes by @babyfirls0s0 on the social media platform, planned a Despicable Me party for her son, Diego, who turned 2 in October. Girlfriend had it all planned out, from decorations to food; nothing was left out.
All she needed was the perfect cake, and when she went to pick it up from the bakery, she was shocked, horrified, and baffled about how someone could charge her for what she received.

Momma had an inspo pic and everything.
Sonja explains in her video, which has racked up more than 20 million views, that she ordered the cake from H-E-B, a grocery chain in Texas, and went in with very specific instructions for the decorator. She wanted it to look like a minion face, nothing fancy.
"She even asked me, do you want it to be like ombre to go from blue into yellow? I'm like, 'no straight blue, straight yellow, OK? Big swirls, I want it to be swirls,'" the mom explains in the clip.
There was no need for anything complicated or crazy because she said her son would mess it up anyway, so why bother? We totally got what she was saying and could envision what she wanted. Simple, right?
Girl, that decorator didn't understand the assignment.
What Sonja received when she went to pick up the cake the day before her son's party is something to see. It's yellow and blue, but that is the only thing the decorator got right. The rest of it looks like a terrifying blob. And those eyes — we don't even want to look at them.
"Why is it ombre? Why is it green? What happened to the goggle circles? Oh my f---ing, God. What in the actual f---? is that?" She asked with a bit of a nervous laugh.
The cake was fixable, but why should she have to do that?
When you order a cake that was probably pricey, you should get what you paid for, but Sonja clearly didn't. She said in the video that she could fix it, but wow. Just wow.
People couldn't believe this cake wreck or the fact that anyone tried to pass if off as acceptable.
Most people thought Sonja was exaggerating before the big reveal.
This video has almost 50,000 comments, and people were aghast.
"when you said 'it's totally fixable' i was not expecting THAT," someone wrote.
"Absolutely nothing could've prepared me for that😭💀," another person commented.
There were so many laughs.

People couldn't figure out how the cake was even supposed to be a Minion.
"I feel like what they gave you was actually MORE difficult than what you asked for 🤣 What were they thinkingggg," another person wrote.
"You're talking about swirls, where is the d--- Minion?!? 😂" someone asked.
Lots of TikTokers thought the momma made a mistake choosing H-E-B and that she may have been better off choosing an independent baker.
One woman had a similar experience. "I had HEB do my wedding cake because I had a super simple design. They messed up SO BAD. It was delivered on wedding day & I had to redo it myself 1/1," she commented.
"I would not have went to HEB for that type of cake lol," another person stated.
One person nailed the problem: "My mom said that heb needs new bakers 😂😂"

There was an update.
Color us shocked, but Sonja gave the cake a little love, and it turned out pretty great. It wasn't just us because TikTokers agreed. And they loved her attitude.
"In a job interview, when they ask you to tell them a time when you turned a bad situation around tell them this story. Lol," someone joked.
"I'm thinking HEB needs to hire you to decorate cakes !!! 😃" another person wrote.
Insider spoke with a representative from H-E-B regarding the cake who said they "strive to provide quality products to our customers and to ensure they are satisfied with their purchases. We understand the customer's frustration and apologize for the inconvenience." The person added, "We are working to make things right."
Sonja shared a video of Diego's party, and everyone had fun. The cake looked amazing, and the place was decked out.
