Mom Sent Foreboding Text Before Killing Herself & Her 1-Year-Old Baby in Texas Park

A Texas mother and her toddler are dead in what police believe was a murder-suicide. Briana Monroe, 26, and her 1-year-old son, Giavon August, were found dead in a vehicle in Beaumont on February 10 from apparent gunshot wounds. Police began their search for the mother and son after loved ones contacted them concerned about the mother's mental state.

According to a statement from the Beaumont Police Department, the baby's father contacted police Saturday afternoon after he received a text from Monroe stating that she planned to kill herself and their son. Tragically, she was found dead alongside the toddler a short time later.

The family frantically tried to contact the mother.

Beaumont Police noted in a statement that after the baby's father received the concerning text from Monroe, he contacted her family, who then tried to reach her but could not do so. The family believed that Monroe might have been reaching out for help but hit a "breaking point" and didn't see a light at the end of the tunnel, per 12 News Now.

After contacting the police, the family continued the search.

Sadly, a short time after their initial call, family members called police a second time to report they had found the mother's car in Perlstein Park, according to a press release from police. Frightened loved ones reportedly tracked her location, per 12 News Now.

Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins said the family tracked her phone to an area near Beaumont Municipal Airport. They found her car in the park less than a mile from the airport, Collins told the news station.

By the time they found her, it was already too late.

Both Monroe and her son were dead. The mother was in the car's front seat and her son was in the back.

Family told 12 News Now that although Monroe had pain caused by sickle cell anemia, they don't understand what made her take her own life or the life of her toddler. She leaves behind two other children.

In the days leading up to her death, Monroe posted a strange message on social media.

She posted a seemingly threatening message on January 26, talking about one of her sons' family members.

"Y'all got 1 time to act funny towards my son and I promise you don't have to ever worry about seeing him again until I feel like you deserve to see him again that goes for anybody, Gma, Cuzzins, uncles, aunties, Papa's n etc may the list go on," she wrote on Facebook.

Prior to that post, things seemed happy for the young mother. She celebrated her youngest son's first birthday on January 8 and wrote, "On this day I was blessed with my last born my miracle baby bc I remember I stopped having contractions, you wasn't moving anymore in my belly n the doctors had to do a immediately c-section u had mommy scared n then u finally came out but you was not breathing, no crying n etc!! Happy 1st Birthday baby boy mommy love you o so much #BabyAugust it's your day!!!"

The tragedy rocked the community.

Others agreed.

"When a person is crying out for help please listen… you may be their only outlet in the midst of their storm. Terrible outcome," another comment reads.

"So terrible. Mental health is real yall," someone else wrote. "Lord please lift them up."
