My FIL Is Furious I Didn't Stop Him From Eating Leftover Food With My Breast Milk in It
Breast milk truly is liquid gold. So much so that moms who pump usually don't want to waste a single drop. As their babies age, they may not drink as much from a bottle, but the moms will continue to use their breast milk by mixing it with other foods, such as cereal. It's an excellent way for their babies to get essential nutrients, and they aren't wasting any of those precious drops.
A mom posted in Reddit's AITA forum about a breast milk mishap at her home. Her father-in-law accidentally consumed some of the mom's milk, and even though she saw it, she didn't tell him or stop him from eating more. When he found out, he was totally grossed out. Was she wrong to keep it a secret?

The baby doesn't normally drink cow's milk.
The original poster explained that her baby, who is 15 months old, rarely has cow's milk, and she just uses her breast milk in any recipes she prepares for him. They said it had worked well for the family until a recent morning mishap.
"My in laws are currently staying with us. This morning I put my son in his high chair, fed him his cereal and left him to his own devices. My FIL was in the kitchen so I left to go wake up my oldest. Anyway, I bring her down and find my FIL finishing my sons cereal. I laughed a little but went along with my morning," she wrote.
Her FIL complained about the milk.
He thought that it tasted sour and told OP about it. She told him the milk was fine; it just came from a different source than what he was used to.
"I swear he looked like he was going to keel over and vomit. He was angry and asked why I'd watch him drink it and not tell him. My MIL stepped in and agreed, I know he 'finishes' everyones meals and I should have told him beforehand," she admitted.
Her husband is stuck in the middle, and now she wonders if she was wrong to keep the breast milk debacle a secret.
OP's silence upset some Redditors.
People thought that it was a little shady for OP not to disclose the breast milk to her FIL.
Someone commented, "Yeah, YTA. You didn't have any obligation to warn him in advance or anything, but when you saw him eating it, you should have said something immediately."
A few people agreed.
"You aren't the a--hole for not warning FIL ahead of time. You are an a--hole for watching him do it and not saying anything. You had to guess that this was something he'd want to know. I'm not buying your 'thought he saw' me excuse," another person commented.
The laughing was off-putting for some. "Why did you laugh and not say anything to him?? Yta," someone wrote.
But some thought it was no big deal.
There was also the camp who think a grown man who randomly eats off of other people's plates gets what he deserves.
"NTA, it's wild that he took a baby's cereal and started eating it," one person wrote.
"If he goes around putting everyone's food in his mouth, he's already eating up everyone's spit and germs," another comment reads.
One commenter pointed out that OP is a busy mom and didn't have time to babysit an adult.
"You're simply living your life taking care of your kids as you always do. It's not your responsibility to police a grown a-- man. If he's going to go around acting like the family's personal garbage disposal, he's taking the risk of ingesting something he's unaware is in the food," the person wrote. "This is all on him, a full grown adult who has been on this earth an entire generation longer than you. He needs to take responsibility for being the person who indiscriminately puts discarded food into his mouth without asking any questions."

No one is innocent in this situation.
Redditors think OP and her FIL are both at fault. She should have told him what he was eating, but he also shouldn't just eat whatever is lying around.
This should be a lesson to all of them to be more aware of their surroundings and not to just put random things in your mouth. You know, like we tell little kids.
