Postpartum Mom Captures Her Mother's Powerful Words of Wisdom on Doorbell Cam
As moms, we know that sometimes we need the wisdom of our own moms to help us get through the day. They've been where we are, and they understand the struggles that come with trying to be everything to everyone all the time. Our moms know we are doing our best even though we may not feel like it.
Monica Murphy's mom, Nancy Mccurrach, was visiting her daughter and knew she needed encouragement. Murphy, a mom of three, including a newborn, felt like the world was crashing in recently until her doorbell camera captured her mom dropping an encouraging truth bomb that every mom should hear.

Like so many moms, Murphy was trying to do it all.
Not only is she a busy mom, but Murphy is also a social media influencer who thought she needed to be present in her home and online as a newly postpartum mom. She explained in an Instagram post that in addition to caring for a 4-week-old baby, she also was trying to eat well, spend time with her husband and kids, be a good friend, get ready for the holidays, and keep a clean house.
She asked the million-dollar question: "How on earth can one person do it all?"
Her mom noticed.
Murphy explained that Mccurrach was visiting and trying to help, and even though her daughter didn't spill her guts to her mom, the grandmother had intuition and knew something was up. The family's doorbell camera captured Mccurrach's encouraging words to her daughter as she left the house.
"They aren't gonna remember a clean house; they are gonna remember how much you loved them and hung out with them," she said.
This momma had been there and knew her daughter was trying to do too much.
"And I don't know who needs to hear that today, but let my mom be the one to tell you. It's OK if all you did today was keep happy children alive. Snuggled them, played with them ... you are doing the most important job of all," Murphy wrote on Instagram.
The words hit the momma of three right in her feels.
Murphy told Today that as soon as her mom left, she crumbled. She was crying as her mom pulled out of the driveway. "I really needed to hear that," she said. "And I decided to share it because I knew other moms need to hear it, too."
She added that her mom was right. Murphy and her three siblings had a fun childhood, and she had no idea what the house looked like back then.
"All I remember is all the fun activities we did, and how loved I felt," she told the news outlet.
Her words resonated with a lot of other moms.
"I needed to hear this Today ❤️ I'm 8 pp with twins and I feel so much pressure," one mom wrote.
"She was everyone's mom in that moment. God bless her and you. Needed to hear that!" another comment reads.
People want that kind of mom.
"the mom everyone needs, & wants to become. She's a gem. 🤍 hugs to you during this season in your life," someone else wrote.
Some remembered their moms being too focused on a clean house.
People who grew up with parents who were obsessed with a clean house appreciated the post.
"She's right, just remember my mom being miserable and cleaning the house obsessively and then being mad at the children if everything wasn't spotless," someone wrote.
Another person agreed.
"I love this!! Our house was always clean as a child and I have zero memories of playing or spending time with my mom. Now with five I'm trying to figure out that balance," that person commented.
