Taylor Swift Has Been Named Time's 2023 Person of the Year

After enjoying the success of her record-breaking Eras Tour — and the release of her rerecorded versions of Speak Now and 1989 — it looks like Taylor Swift has at least one more thing to celebrate before the year comes to an end. On Wednesday, news broke that Taylor has been named Time magazine's 2023 Person of the Year, and not only did she pose for an epic multi-cover photo shoot, but she also opened up about everything from her career to her friendship with Beyoncé to her relationship with Travis Kelce in the interview.

Taylor posed for a full photo shoot, along with several versions of the magazine cover.

One version even featured one of her cats, Benjamin Button, who you might recognize from her music video for the song "Me!" — the first single from her Lover album released in 2019.

In the cover story, writer Sam Lansky explained why all of Taylor's achievements have added up to make her the "main character of the world."

She talked about the journey her career has taken her on.

Taylor recounted the early days of her career, when her offer to open for Kenny Chesney on tour was rescinded because it was sponsored by a beer company, making her too young to come along, and the dark period of her life when Kim Kardashian leaked a phone call Taylor had with Kanye West, twisting it to sound like she'd actually approved of Kanye's lyrics in the song "Famous" that referenced her.

"That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country," she admitted. "I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard."

She's also not too bothered about anyone who wishes she'd stop showing up to football games.

Though NFL fans have made their opinions clear when it comes to how tired they are of seeing Taylor on screen when she shows up at games to cheer boyfriend Travis Kelce on when he plays with the Kansas City Chiefs, she simply can't be bothered.

"I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and p---ing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads," she said.

Things seem to be going pretty well in her new relationship.

Although being seen with Travis publicly is a lot different from her behavior in her previous relationship with "London Boy" Joe Alwyn, it sounds like exactly what she needs in her life right now.

"When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care," Taylor told Time. "The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other."

She also addressed her friendship with Beyoncé.

Though Taylor did acknowledge that some people like to pit them against each other, there's nothing but love between them.

"She’s the most precious gem of a person — warm and open and funny. And she’s such a great disrupter of music-industry norms," she said. "She taught every artist how to flip the table and challenge archaic business practices."

Here's to two powerful women who are changing the face of music — and to the next era of Taylor's career!
