Teen Dad's Reaction to Baby's Gender Reveal Has TikTok Telling Mom-To-Be To 'Leave Him'
Gender reveal parties are understandably exciting, especially if you're a first-time parent. But one 19-year-old dad-to-be is getting absolutely dragged on TikTok for the way he reacted after learning his baby's gender — and not for the reason you might think.

In the clip, a young couple stands in the middle of a baseball field.
Moments later, the mom-to-be, 18, pitched a ball to her boyfriend, who swung a baseball bat hard enough to send a burst of blue powder into the sky.

It was clear right away that they're having a boy, and pretty much everyone around them was psyched about it. Off camera, a crowd of people could be heard screaming with joy before rushing onto the field.
On the surface, that all sounds rather sweet.
But after watching the clip a bit more closely, many TikTokers started to notice that something seemed a little off about the whole thing.
That's because in the seconds after the cloud of blue was released, you'd expect to see the couple come together in some sort of embrace. After all, that baby-to-be belongs to both of them, and presumably, this was a pretty big moment.
But instead of rushing over to his pregnant girlfriend, the dad-to-be pays almost no attention to her.
Instead, he ran right toward a group of his guy friends, who were all dressed in blue T-shirts as they jumped up and down uncontrollably over the fact that IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In other words, what should be a happy moment for the couple looks instead like the end of a high school sports game. And as the guys were busy rejoicing amongst themselves about their "win," the young mom-to-be somehow got totally left out of the moment.
It didn't take long for TikTokers to descend on the comments section.
“Um no what about the mother of the child," wrote one TikToker.
"I would be so mad!" wrote another person.
"Poor baby girl ... my heart became so sad when they pushed you out of the way," someone else commented.
One person blamed "the boys" for "stealing a moment between mother and father."
Most people, however, shared that it was clear that the dad-to-be didn't even glance at his girlfriend before celebrating with his friends.
"He went straight to the friends, meanwhile you were headed straight for him!" wrote one user.
Others straight-up told the girl to "leave him."
The video was first posted last week by the mom-to-be.
Since then, the post by @hannah.j.c16 has been viewed a whopping 23.1 million times and racked up thousands of comments.
According to Today Parents, the young woman's real name is Hannah Calverley, 18, who's due to give birth in October. As for the dad-to-be? That's her boyfriend, Travis Gober — a 19-year-old sophomore at the University of New Orleans who appears in a lot of her other TikTok videos.
In fact, Travis even sits beside Hannah in a follow-up post to her viral TikTok. In it, she insisted that she found the whole gender reveal thing "funny" and wasn't upset by Travis's reaction at all.
"Thank you guys for defending me," she said in the since-deleted clip. "I promise I'm not upset. I'm OK. I was literally laughing about how funny it was that everyone was jumping on him.
"Yes, he should have run and hugged me and he knows that and he feels terrible," she went on to share. "But he’s the best boyfriend in the whole world and he’s going to be the best dad, so it’s OK — y’all can leave him alone!"
Not everyone is buying that explanation, though.
"Are you tryna convince us or convince yourself?" one person asked. "Cuz a video of him acting silly doesn’t cancel out him ..."
One person wrote that the original video gave off major "Saturdays are for the boys" vibes — in the worst way possible.
Hundreds of others wrote that they felt terrible for the mom-to-be, who may not fully realize yet what a slight that moment actually was.
"Girl we’re upset for you," wrote one TikToker.
"This is the sorta thing that doesn't affect you until you look back on it 10 years later," added another person.
In fact, a lot of people told Hannah this was definitely a bad sign of things to come.
Now that the viral moment is making headlines, Hannah's been trying to set the record straight.
“I didn’t think anything bad about it until I started reading the comments,” she told Today Parents. “What people didn’t see was how he came over and gave me a huge hug and a kiss right after. We were so overjoyed and excited.”
She also insisted that Travis is devoted to her and even cooks her dinner every night.
“He hardly ever goes out," she shared. "He just wants to be home with me on the couch."
Whether people want to believe her is up to them, but it's clear that Hannah remains unbothered by most of the criticism. In several follow-up posts, she's insisted that Travis really is a good guy and that people have got him pegged all wrong.
"He really is a sweetheart!" she wrote in one video shared over the weekend.
But in reply, a lot of people still sounded skeptical, with one person telling her that a "good dad and good partner are two different things."
