Shocking Video Shows How Teen Destroyed His Mom's Home After She Took Away His Cellphone
It’s no secret that teenagers are often attached to their phones, perhaps sometimes in unhealthy ways. Many parents have recognized that taking a teenager’s phone is an effective punishment. It communicates the severity of an action, doesn’t involve any physical discomfort, and removes a privilege.
But when one woman took away her 15-year-old’s phone, he was so upset he took it to the extreme. In retaliation, he destroyed his mother’s entire home.
The boy’s mother cried as she took in all the damage her son caused.
When we say destroyed, we mean almost demolition-level destruction. The damage was captured on video and later shared on social media. In the video, which now has nearly 11 million views and over 21,000 retweets on Twitter, you can hear the boy’s mother sniffle as she walks through every room, tearfully assessing the unbelievable damage to her home.
Her friend launched a GoFundMe to help cover the costs of the damage.
Later, the woman provided updates saying that her son was off his medication at the time of the incident. After the mother’s video went viral on social media, her friend launched a GoFundMe to raise funds to help repair the damage.
In addition to the destruction he caused in the home, the boy also physically attacked his mother. His younger sister was locked in a room. All the mother could do was cry out for help, Anny Franco explained in the fundraiser description.
Social media users doubted the validity of the video and even blamed the mother.
Given the extent of the damage, people online were so shocked many doubted whether all of this could have been done by a preteen. The boy's age was initially reported as 12.
“This is definitely fake,” one user wrote. “No way a 12 year old is smashing a toilet with their bare hands.”
With no evidence of even the mother’s identity, others attributed the teen’s behavior to a lack of discipline.
“The bad thing is that the mother is a part of the same society that believes children should not be disciplined," someone commented on the original post. "That boy will grow up to be one who beats or even shoots his gf dead cos she beat him in a football game on PS 5. Smh.”
The mother came back to confirm the damage was real.
After all of the naysayers came forward, the woman who initially shared the viral video came back with proof that her story was indeed true.
“It really sucks that I have to make a video to prove that this damage that was done to my life is real," she wrote. "That my friend betrayed me and sent this video out to the public of something so hurtful. But anyway, the damage is real...This is an apartment. I have to fix this...My son is six foot tall. He’s not 12. He’s 15 and he’s 270 pounds. So no, I can’t spank him. And he’s mentally ill. So yeah, it’s real.”
Thankfully, this mother will have some help in repairing the apartment. The GoFundMe, which originally requested $10,000 has raised double that. At the time of publication, over a thousand donors had together raised more than $24,000.
