TikTok Dad Goes Viral After Proudly Announcing He Doesn't 'Help' His Wife Around the House

Colleen Dilthey Thomas

We were pretty ticked when we first heard about the UPS driver going viral for refusing to help his wife around the house. It made us think about the idea of default parenting and how a lot of responsibilities fall on a mom's shoulders. And when there are people like this guy around admitting that he won't help his wife, it's shocking.

From the driver's seat of his delivery truck, J.R. Minton admitted that he doesn't help his wife cook, clean, or care for the kids. Sounds like a real jerk, huh? We certainly thought so, but we were dead wrong.

J.R. is the kind of guy you wish you were married to.

He hooked us from the very beginning with his "I don't help her with this," and "I don't help her with that." But it was all a ruse to get our attention. He says he doesn't help his wife do anything. Instead, he does it himself.

"I do what I am supposed to do as a father and husband," he explains.

He says he can't help her because the chores are his job, too. Can we get an amen?!?

It's about partnership.

J.R. knows he has responsibilities in his home, just like his wife, so he takes care of them. He wants other men to take notes and to make some changes.

"Change the way you speak. Change the way you think. And grow the f--- up and be a man," he suggests.

Dang. He said it. And he is not wrong.

He had a lot of people fooled.

The video has amazed 7.2 million views, and plenty of people were ready to pounce.

"Went from, "🗣I BEG YOUR PARDON?" to, "Ohh!! What a gentleman "👌🏾😅," one comment reads.

So many TikTokers agree.

"Bro. My head about spun around like the exorcist. You got me!!!🤣" someone else wrote.

"Was waiting for the "because I don't have a wife and kids" 😂😂. But this is even better," another comment reads.

"I got mad real quick then my mood chilled quicker than Usain Bolt runs 😂 well said bro!" another person commented.

Surprise, surprise, but people love J.R.

He is definitely giving some sound advice, and people are here for it.

"You are a REAL man, husband and father. You sir are the example to follow," one commenter praised.

"That's right! You go man! I take care of this house, cook, clean, and take care of my kids too! He just said what I do isn't work! 🤬🤬😡🤬" someone else agreed.

So many applauded him.

"Say it louder 👏," another person shared.

But he isn't the only one. This woman has her own J.R.

"Oh my goshhh!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 My husband is like this. People are always going on about it. He's my hubby he loves doing this as a father and a husband🥰🥰," one mom commented.

J.R. and his wife, Brittany, share four children.

In an interview with Today, the viral dad said he is parenting very differently than he was accustomed to growing up.

"Pretty much everything about my parenting style is in spite of what I saw when I was growing up," he explained.

He said he and his family were at Target recently, and a fellow shopper was fawning over him for holding their baby, telling Brittany to take a photo. He was pretty stunned.

"I get so much credit for doing nothing. How low is the bar?" he questioned.

Brittany added, "They say all sorts of things, like 'Girl, you must be in good with the big guy because he sent you an amazing husband.'"

J.R., keep doing what you are doing. You set a great example for your kids, and hopefully gave a few husbands and dads a little nudge to do better. We showed it to our husbands. No shame here.
