TikTok Mom Claps Back at Haters Who Slammed Her Over Her 'Disgusting' House

Colleen Dilthey Thomas

Is your house ready for a white-gloved inspector to show up unannounced? Probably not, right? And if you have kids, the likelihood is even less. Why? Because life is busy and crazy, and sometimes just surviving another day in paradise is the best you can do. Look, we've all been there, and anyone who says they haven't is full of it. No one is perfect, and we shouldn't have to feel like our houses need to be either.

Yet, if you put your life out on social media for the world to see, you can rest assured people will come at you the first chance they get. One TikTok influencer knows this all too well after some of her followers got a glimpse of her messy house.

Not everything you see on social media is real.

If we're being honest, a lot of us have become totally engrossed in the lives of our favorite influencers. It's impressive to see how perfect their lives are, and it can even make us feel a little bit envious.

But think about your social media feeds. Have you ever pushed a load of laundry out of the way to get a photo of your family to share that looks like you have your life totally together? We have. Some of your favorite influencers do the same thing. You just don't always realize it.

Taylor Paul is no different than any other mom you know.

Taylor is a TikTok influencer with 3.8 million followers and 149 million likes on her videos, and she has a pretty great life. She and her husband are attractive, they have darling kids, live in a beautiful home, are funny, and make their life look really good.

But guess what? Her life isn't any more perfect than any of ours.

She recently posted a video of her home that now has 19.9 million views and 2 million likes, and in it, the house looks pretty messy. There's laundry on the floor, dirty dishes in the sink, toys strewn everywhere, and unmade beds. It may be a tad out of control, but it is typical stuff. True to form, the trolls came out in droves and had a lot to say.

People called for Taylor to check on her mental health.

Yes, Taylor's house looks a bit like a tornado went through, but come on, does that really mean she's having a mental break and needs an intervention? That is a stretch. Sometimes moms have had enough and say, "Forget it" and give themselves time to decompress.

We feel that way from time to time too, but imagine trying to maintain a home and a seemingly perfect lifestyle in front of millions of people. That sounds positively exhausting. But a lot of the commenters on the video don't seem to take any of that into consideration.

"Why is everyone sitting around in the mess 😳," someone asked.

"This gives me so much ✨anxiety✨ I couldn't live like that id cry," another person wrote.

"Wait there's a child living in that?" someone else questioned.

"taylor you need to go to therapy!" another comment reads.

"Can we stop trying to normalize this? She has an excuse because she's mourning but this mess is NOT normal," a person judged.

"No sorry, this isn't normal. I'm a mom, my husband and I own 3 businesses, and I still manage to keep my house picked up. No maid," another person bragged.

Well, good for all of you for having it all together.

Plenty of people finally felt seen, though.

Guess what, haters? A lot of people can feel what this momma is going through. Plenty of houses get like this, and it is OK to be overwhelmed and just throw your hands up from time to time.

"And then you spend a whole day cleaning it and it wipes you out for the next 3 days and you're right back where you started 🥹" someone commented.

"She has kids, this could have occurred in 24 hours and she's too exhausted to handle it right now," another person rationalized.

"So many influencers only show us how 'great' their life is when in reality we all go through s--- and this made me feel so much better!! I'm not ALONE," a follower agreed.

"I appreciate someone on this platform actually being honest," someone else wrote. "Makes me not feel so bad for having a messy house at times."

Taylor is experiencing some tough times.

People who are not regular followers of Taylor's may not know that she is working through some difficult things in her life right now. She and her husband recently announced that she was pregnant, but sadly, it was an ectopic pregnancy and not viable.

That's obviously heartbreaking, and anyone who has experienced a pregnancy loss will tell you it takes some time to recover. Now is a time to offer grace and good vibes — not judgment.

Guess what? She cleaned it up.

With her family's help, Taylor cleaned up her house. We're sure it took a long time. But a little conviction and some elbow grease got the job done. This made people happy. But does it matter what others think? No, not really.

There are some lessons to be learned from this whole thing.

First, it's clear that no one lives a perfect life, no matter what we see on social media. And second, make sure you know all of the facts before you pass judgment and troll someone. It is hard enough being a parent without the world condemning you for your housekeeping skills.
