TikTok Mom Goes 'Too Far' & Gets Side-Eyed for Scissor-Happy Elf on a Shelf Prank

McKenzie Taylor decided to cut her daughter’s pajamas and blame it on the naughty elf who has been inhabiting their home for the past few weeks. Taylor posted the prank on TikTok, showing her daughter asleep as she took scissors to her clothing.

That's right: She didn't do it to freshly laundered pajamas her child would put on later. She took scissors to the pajamas actually on her child's body while she was sleeping.

Taylor had to make two attempts to pull it off as her daughter woke up in the middle of the whole thing. When her daughter woke up, Taylor pointed out the holes in her pajamas. The sleepy little girl didn’t look particularly amused.

The reaction from Taylor’s followers and others who stumbled across the video was mixed.

“These elf on the shelf gags you’re doing are by far the best I’ve ever seen,” one user wrote.

Others took inspiration from her page, vowing to pull similar pranks with their children, whether they had them or not. One user wanted to reconsider their decision about not having children just so they could do this.

There were more than a few people who took issue with this particular stunt.

“Too far — girl is gonna become scared of the elf,” one user wrote.

Someone else speculated that this story would be the girl’s "villain origin story."

"Someone rescue this child," another person wrote jokingly.

In one simple comment a user wrote, “Aw that’s not nice.”

To be honest, the sight of those big scissors next to that sweet little girl shook us a bit too. We think there might have been safer ways to pull this one off, but you do you, mama.

We can’t be sure how this little girl felt about all of this. We can only hope that she wasn’t particularly attached to that pair of PJs.

There’s a good chance she’s sick of the elf and his shenanigans at this point. We’re sure she just wants Christmas to get here so she can get her gifts and be done with the antics for awhile. We can’t blame her.
