March 17 is just a few days away, and we can all claim to be just a wee bit Irish on St. Patrick's Day. Of course, the holiday that brings shamrocks, parades, and even green beer wouldn't be complete without a few of those silly little leprechauns running around causing mischief. But have you ever tried to catch one?

If you and your kiddos want to catch a leprechaun, you'll need a cunning and attractive trap to get him close enough to capture. We combed TikTok to find some ideas for catching a red-bearded friend, including a last-minute option you can throw together in a flash. And we bet you've even got lots of things already in the house that you can make into a trap in no time. We've put together some helpful ideas from simple shoeboxes covered in paper to Lego bricks made into rainbows.

What about that darn Lego you are constantly stepping on?

This one is a win/win. You can make an excellent trap and clean up all at the same time. TikToker @chatbooks created the cutest trap with rainbow-colored bricks (Lego or Duplo both work) stacked to make a high dive. Gold coins and a glass of water look very inviting for a curious little leprechaun. This one is so simple, it's the perfect option if you have to throw together a leprechaun trap totally last-minute.

"Cuuuuuuute. 🥰🥰 And since our legos are ALWAYS OUT 😏 this will be a breeze. 😂" a follower commented on the video.

You're going to need some shiny gold.

If there's one thing that a leprechaun loves, it's a shiny pot of gold. That is the best way to woo one into your trap. Gold coins are available at most dollar stores this time of year, or you can create your own with a bit of spray paint. Erica, who posts on TikTok as @poppinmamadiys, put together a simple trap with a frame and some coins. She added a rainbow dome and a few shamrocks to catch her leprechaun, and now all she has to do is wait.

Don't forget the rainbows.

No leprechaun trap would be complete without a rainbow. Liz Rodgers, aka @lizmrodgers on TikTok, shared her super simple leprechaun trap that uses construction paper, a kebab skewer, and a hat. Practically anyone can make this trap. Rodgers' trap is all dollar store finds.

TikToker @onelittleproject put together a trap with an empty tissue box that would trip up any leprechaun.

"my daughter has to make a leprechaun trap for school and i'm not very creative lol ahhh thank you so much for posting this!! 🥰" a follower commented.

Not crafty? No problem.

Plenty of leprechaun hunters have shared easy boxes that don't require parents to do all the work. TikToker Magdalena, who posts under the handle @maggiebearrrr, shared the traps that she and her second-grade class made. They are simple, messy, and lots of fun. It's easy to see that the kids put a lot of heart and effort into their leprechaun traps.

Even celeb kids have ideas about how to capture a St. Paddy's Day sprite.

In a video posted on Facebook in March 2021, Kim Kardashian shows her family's attempt at catching a leprechaun. And let's just say, it's a nightmare. No matter how many millions of dollars you have, kids are kids, and they are messy. But at least they had fun, right?

Whether you catch a leprechaun this year or not, remember they are real.

In March 2022, Jessica Carter, aka @jessicacarter333, posted a TikTok of her husband talking to his girls through a doorbell, and his Irish accent is on point. He warns his daughters, "You can't catch me you little girls." So sneaky and so sweet.

No matter how your choose to catch a leprechaun this St. Patrick's Day, may the luck of the Irish be with you!
