No Grass Needed: TikTok Mom Shares How She Creates Perfect Low-Clutter Easter Baskets
Easter has always been high up on the list of my favorite holidays. When I was a kid, it usually meant a new dress, the beginning of warmer weather, Easter egg hunts, a lively church service, and when we got home, an Easter basket. In addition to a new stuffed bunny rabbit, the basket would be brimming with small toys, candy, a book, and the plastic type of decorative grass that would be all over the house before the day was done.
Good times. But these days we’re a bit more Earth-conscious, and plastic grass is not only a mess in the house but it's also not the greatest for the environment. Plus, if your household is anything like mine, you’re keenly aware that your children don’t need a whole lot more stuff. With all of this in mind, one TikTok mom shares how she makes low-clutter Easter baskets and we’re all (bunny) ears.

This TikTok mom is extra when it comes to Easter, but she doesn't want unnecessary junk in her house.
KC Davis, who goes by @domesticblisters on TikTok, is a self-proclaimed mom who loves to go overboard. Still, she hates the extra plastic and little toys that often get included in Easter baskets, so she wants to do something a bit different this year. She shared her process for other mothers who may be looking to do something similar.
KC uses a large cloth, reusable Easter basket.
For the basket itself, she uses a cloth foldable and reusable bunny-faced carrier for each of her children. Although she admits this might not be the best way to reduce clutter, they are foldable and she reuses them each year.
Then she broke down the items she’ll include in the basket into categories. First are the things her children would need anyway. These items include a reup on her kids' most-used supplies such as crayons, new toothbrushes, small adhesive bandages, etc.
She includes a traditional chocolate bunny.
The second category is things that are edible. This means a traditional chocolate Easter bunny but can also mean your child’s favorite snacks. For KC, her children love to make cake, so she included cake mix and other edible decorations.
“They’ll be so excited,” KC said anticipating her kids’ reactions. “That means we’re making a cake today.”
She includes things that are meant to be used and discarded.
The third category is things that are intended to be used and thrown away. KC included things like chalk stampers.
“These will be around my house for a few weeks and then they’ll be empty. And then they’ll be gone,” she says. She also got them a bubble wand.
Commenters agreed with her approach.
Lastly, KC topped off the basket with a stuffed rabbit because some traditions just work. In the comment section, people were completely onboard and offered their own suggestions for a decluttered Easter.
“My dad did a scavenger hunt every year for Easter with clues in eggs. Fewer prizes, way more time consuming. Awesome memories,” one person wrote. We have to say, that sounds like a fabulous option.
