The Plaza Hotel in New York City is more than just an iconic and luxurious place to stay near Central Park. It’s also a home sweet home for some people. For those of us who have seen (or read) Eloise at the Plaza, we know that it’s possible to actually live year-round at The Plaza. But Eloise’s expansive abode is almost modest compared to some of the available apartments on the market today. In fact, TopTenRealEstateDeals.com reported that a new penthouse at The Plaza was recently listed for sale … for a casual $70 million.

For anyone interested in shelling out that much cash to buy an apartment, The Plaza’s accommodations definitely aren’t lacking. The available penthouse covers over 10,000 square feet (pretty much unheard of in Manhattan) and contains a main living space plus a bonus guest house. The joint living quarters are connected by a tall terrace with beautiful park views. Oh, and the penthouse occupies three floors, so there’s obviously a grand spiral staircase (and a private elevator).

We may never be able to afford to live in such an upscale penthouse, but we can live vicariously through this inside peek. Scroll on to see the impressive photos of this mansion in the sky.

The Grand Entrance Is Exactly That ... Grand.

Nothing says luxury Plaza Hotel penthouse quite like this entryway. From the grand wooden staircase to the carved columns to the statement floor design, there’s nothing subtle about it. We could take one step inside and immediately know the rest of the apartment is going to be super fancy.

Ascending in Style Is an Absolute Must.

For those who don’t want to climb the curved stairs to the other levels, there’s also a private elevator. In keeping with the style of the rest of the home, the elevator floor is made from a gorgeous wood and the back of the door features intricate mirror details. It’s such a glamorous way to travel between floors.

The Private Terrace Has Spectacular Views.

We'd feel literally on top of the world stepping out onto the private terrace that connects the main penthouse to the guest house. Most apartment owners are lucky to have a small balcony in a city like Manhattan — this penthouse has an entire walkway that overlooks the park. Imagine curling up in a blanket to watch the leaves change colors in the fall. So idyllic.

There's Plenty of Natural Light To Go Around.

Being up this high means there’s not a lot that can block out the sun. The result is gorgeous natural light that streams in through an array of regular windows and ceiling skylights. We’d never be lacking in Vitamin D if we lived here. Just think of all the houseplants we could have.

There's Tons of Storage.

Anyone who has ever lived in New York or a similarly big city knows that most apartments are on the smaller side. The lack of space makes putting things away pretty difficult, but not so for this penthouse. In the kitchen alone there are tons of drawers and cabinets to store belongings. The rest of the house boasts plenty of room as well.

There's Plenty of Space To Spread Out.

The main part of the penthouse covers 6,316 square feet, and the adjoining guest home is another 3,974 square feet. Whoever buys this place won’t have to worry about feeling cramped. There are a whopping seven bedrooms available to sleep in — a different one for every night of the week!

The Conversation Rooms May Be the Best Part.

Not only are there a ton of bedrooms to sleep in, but there's also a living room, den, terrace room, and great room to cozy up in. When there's this much space in one apartment, whole rooms can be dedicated to just hanging out. We like how the couches in this room face each other rather than a TV so people can just play games or chat without distractions.

A Personal Fireplace Is a Beautiful Touch We'd Never Thought of Before.

Who doesn’t want a personal fireplace in their bedroom? This is one of two fireplaces in the apartment, but it’s the only one in a private bedroom. The other is in the den, so it’s presumably meant to be shared. The height of luxury is really the private one in this upper level bedroom. It’ll keep the occupant warm all winter.

What About Working With a View?!

Check out this stunning home office on the penthouse’s upper level. It has plenty of shelving to display career achievements and cabinets to tuck away a printer or store work documents. The only problem is with spectacular Central Park views like this, we might never get anything done!

A Grand Bar Stretches Across the Room With Enough Room To Entertain Guests.

The residents of this penthouse don’t just have to work hard, they can play hard too — thanks to the private bar. Crafted from marble and flanked by decorative (or not) liquor bottles, the bar makes a pretty big statement in the living room. A wine cellar off the kitchen is available to store any extra beverages.

Speaking of Entertaining Guests ...

As one could imagine, there are dozens of places in this apartment to entertain guests — including the stunning bar. One of the most impressive places to bring friends is probably this sitting area. Not only will guests have a view of the stately entryway, but they'll also have stunning views of Central Park. It's sure to wow anyone.

There Are Amazing Views From Every Room.

We've talked a lot about the park views that exist in this penthouse, but there's more than just that. A lot of the rooms also overlook parts of the classic Manhattan skyline. In almost every corner of the apartment, the windows give the best of both worlds — nature and the city.

The Spa-like Bathrooms Are Enough To Sell Us.

No need to take a trip to the actual Plaza Hotel spa when there are several bathrooms in the penthouse that feel just as relaxing. There are four and a half bathrooms in the main house and an additional three full bathrooms in the guest area. This one is especially impressive with the deep soaking tub and walk-in tiled shower.

Marble Throughout the Penthouse Gives an Elegant Touch.

The bathrooms give off a luxurious spa vibe, in part because they're decked out in floor-to-ceiling marble. This bathroom used the same striking black and white marble for both the walls and the floor. The end result is a functional room that's also essentially a fascinating work of art.

The Hardwood Accents Are Also Stunning.

It’s always exciting to find a home crafted with wood accents. The natural material is durable, lasts a long time, and looks gorgeous. It’s no wonder that this magnificent penthouse boasts parquet hardwood floors in the kitchen and tons of dark wood accents like those seen in this bathroom.

Plus, the Extra Amenities Never Hurt Anyone.

Because this is a penthouse in The Plaza Hotel, it also comes with a few more amenities than an average apartment. Whoever buys this property will have access to the hotel's gym, spa, and restaurants like the Palm Court and the Champagne Bar. If only we could all be so lucky to call this place home.
