I Left a Letter From the Tooth Fairy & It Totally Backfired
We don't know about you, but sometimes the condition of our kids' bedrooms makes us want to rip our hair out. Yes, we understand they are kids and that kids are messy, but would it be too much to put the dirty laundry in the basket instead of on the floor right beside it? Sometimes, it just becomes too much, and we are ready to lose it. At least we know that we are not alone.
A clever dad was having some trouble with his daughter cleaning her room and knew that if he wanted the job done, he'd have to bring in some reinforcements. He called upon the tooth fairy for some assistance, but his plan hilariously backfired.

The room was a mess and the tooth fairy couldn't visit.
The dad posted his letter from the tooth fairy in Reddit's MadeMeSmile forum. The typed note was a formal warning to his 10-year-old daughter, whose room was so messy that the tooth fairy couldn't visit to retrieve the lost tooth. The poor fairy had to fight an obstacle course and wrote, "The state of your room prevented us from performing a midnight retrieval."
That's only half the truth.
The room was indeed a mess, but the tooth fairy actually forgot to visit. The dad, who didn't want to be identified, told Newsweek the real story.
"We had forgotten to play the part of the tooth fairy and, when she woke up in the morning, she was disappointed," he said. "Since we had been trying to get her to clean her room for a long time, it provided an opportunity to learn a light-hearted lesson."
He admitted that he and his wife aren't always the tidiest but that he hoped his children would be better.
"While I believe tidiness is important in general, I recognize that my wife and I aren't tidy people," the father shared. "I try to be honest with my kids about my own shortcomings, and tell them not to be messy like me. I hope that, if they learn good habits early, it will help them later on."
So, he got busy writing the funny note.
The note explained that the tooth fairy was in danger in the daughter's room and that she needed to get it cleaned up.
"The first attempt almost resulted in tragedy as one of our agents' shoes got stuck to something icky on the floor," the note read. "While attempting to free herself, a pile of socks tipped over and nearly suffocated her."
The commotion woke the dog, so the tooth fairy was forced to "abort the mission."
The tooth fairy had to do something totally out of character.
Because of the dangerous conditions in the room in the dark, the tooth fairy was forced to perform a "very rare daytime retrieval." And because everything was such a mess, tooth fairy Greta left a giant pile of change. The tooth fairy asked that the room be cleaned so subsequent retrievals would be standard.
But did it work? He told Newsweek the note was a bust, but his daughter actually loved it. "A lot of people have asked, and the answer is no, the note did not have any lasting cleanliness effects."

People loved it.
Redditors are always up for a good joke and a funny parent. This tooth fairy note did not disappoint.
There was a lot of praise.
"Absolutely loved the creative writing assignment. Thanks for starting my day with a smile, OP. 🤙🏽🫡,” someone wrote.
"This is gorgeous. She will remember receiving this letter her entire life," another comment reads.
Redditors loved this creative take.
"What a clever way to encourage your daughter to keep her room clean. Make sure you thank the tooth fairies for their cooperation," another person commented.
And this person wants OP to be their dad. "I'm 38 but technically an orphan.... I'd like adoption papers from these parents, immediately please," the person wrote.
But boy, that dad did suffer through some backlash.
"Quite a few people claimed I was manipulating my daughter," he told Newsweek. "Another said I should try being a parent and helping her. It's as though with this one story as a single data point, they have me and my parenting style figured out."
